Small Town America

General News

On a summer Holiday. We spent the 24th of July in Fairview this year. The town where my Dad and Mom grew up and where my Grandma Leah still resides. We'd always heard that they throw quite the shin-dig on Pioneer Day (the July 24th holiday here in Utah to celebrate the day the pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley and claimed this place their home). And I must say, I never knew there were so many people around that small little town.

We started the day at the Parade.

Grandma rode in the parade this year, being honored for being a part of the DUP (daughters of Utah Pioneers), a longstanding, 4th generation member of 44 years.

She rode along in this 1927 Cadillac, owned by the driver who also owns a 1929 Ford and one other car as well.

Here's Grandma standing by the car afterward, at the car show.

The old Ford Pick-up, quite small by today's standards.

Aaron's always talked about having one of these, an old mercedes benz. This one was made the year I was born, 1975.

It always feels good to be with family that you haven't seen in a long time, or don't get to see that often. I'm so glad that we went.
