Summer Sewing

"skills" (latest projects)

I love summer sewing projects so much. The days are warm and long, so it seems that I have more time to do it and the projects are (usually) simple, and for my girls. Last night Abbie and Ava were watching a movie and I noticed one of the little girls in the movie wearing a cute little gathered nightgown. BAM! In came some inspiration, so right then I stopped what I was doing and went to work on my sewing machine. I used fabric that I already had and it only took about an hour and a half to make it. Granted, any time I do anything new, there's always some mistakes, but I love how this little dress turned out, and don't be surprised if I end up making her a dozen of them.

And this morning Ava wanted to wear a dress or skirt too, so I went to work again. This time just using some inexpensive white eyelet that I bought at Wal-mart. So here's Ava in her $4 skirt. Most importantly, it twirls so prettily.

And finally, I finished this shirt for Abbie. It's one of those like Ava's (that was supposed to be a dress for Estelle). The bottom is out of a super soft and light weight knit/rayon..... soooo summery. I knew these colors would be perfect on my pretty brunette. :)

Now If I could just get around to sewing something for myself. I want summer dresses too. :)

I HEART ALL OF THEM! (and the clothes, too :). no, really, Stace. Sometimes I find myself wishing I had your talent for creativity/sewing/design because my kids are gonna have lame-sauce Halloween costumes, etc. I then think: I'll just have to hire Stace sometimes. Will you be my future kids' sewing Godmother so they don't look like losers? :)
